Welcome, everyone.  This week, I didn’t have time to write a new “Spook-tober Shorts” story.  However, I’m sharing a short snippet from my Halloween novel, “A Peril in Ectoplasm.”

Step into the 1920s of Coral Gables, Florida with world renowned psychic medium, Daphne Moultrie. A spirit warned her that she must find a particular girl or else she will die.  But what girl and where?  We join Daphne on her search.

Keys of typewriters clacked in a chaotic lack of rhythm, interspersed by the ding of carriage returns.  Daphne Moultrie walked down a hallway in the South Florida Practical School for Young Women.

She climbed a flight of stairs.  Breathing heavily, she had to stop before she reached the top.  She knewit was wrong that she should be so easily fatigued.  Taking a…

Thursday Doors to Indie Books

1920s Trick or Treat

Today I’m sharing some 1920s doors.  It was a fun coincidence.  I just released a novella set in Coral Gables, Florida of the Roaring Twenties.  Meanwhile, to celebrate her upcoming 1920s mystery series, fellow indie author, S.R. (Sarah) Mallery is offering the introductory book for free (but only for a few days).  Her series is set on the opposite coast, in and around Hollywood, California.

I’ve found some real estate photos of houses in both cities, that were built in the 1920s and are still out there today.  So, let’s go coast-to-coast for our trick-or-treating!

Back in the day, I was always taught to put my guests first. So, let’s begin with the California doors.  I love the way the balcony goes most of the way around this home.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Spook-tober Shorts.  A couple of weeks ago I introduced some new character-friends, the Pumpkin Hat Girls.  They’re back for some more Twilight Zone-ish fun.

Haunted Halloween Holiday is a delightful story by Robbie and Michael Cheadle.  I mentioned it back on August 20.  When I found out about Robbie’s story, it reminded me that every year, I kept forgetting to do a Halloween story until it was too late.  So, I got busy writing A Peril in Ectoplasm.  My latest novella has nothing to do with Robbie’s new book.  Neither does the short story below, but it was inspired by her fun promo image and many of her fondant characters.  I’ve used her photos of some of them as illustrations for my story.

Welcome back to the Teagan Zone, everyone. I’m working some blog magic and being in two places at once.  Or rather I am on Sunday — Actually I’m embarrassed. This is the second time I’ve gotten that date wrong, thinking it was the 16th. when I’m visiting Teri Polen’s Bad Moon Rising event On October 19th.  She’s asked me some fun questions. I hope you’ll click here to visit us and join the conversation.

I’ve been working like a demon on a “long-short story” that grew into a novella. (Read more and you’ll see how appropriate “demon” is.)  As of this afternoon, it’s finished, and the e-book is available at Amazon!  Wheew just barely in time for Teri’s post SundayIn plenty of time for Oct. 19th! Haha. Joke’s on me since I stayed up all night working.

Today I’m bending…

Hello everyone, and happy October.  I hope to use this series of short stories I’m writing to promote new books from indie authors, whenever synchronicity allows.  Today that happened with the second book in Dan Antion‘s trilogy, “The Evil You Choose.”  The title is what inspired my short story, although Dan has let me use several of his photos for illustrations (not necessarily related to his book).

Today I’ve created some new character-friends, and we’re up to a bit of Twilight Zone-ish fun.
