You’ve reached The Armadillo Files.  Stand by for a wild and… psychedelic ride.  We’ll have mushrooms one more time.

“Stop children. What’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down…” Stephen Stills

I usually like 1960s original recordings best.  But I do love some good swamp blues, especially when it’s Tab Benoit.  Thanks for indulging me in this digression. It does relate to the story. That’s where I got the titular question for this chapter.

Random Reader Things

Today’s random reader things are from Lauren Scott at Bay Dreamer Writes. The things that guided this chapter are fun.  That made the Time Manatees fun-loving beings. Stand by for pineapple, puppies, and ping-pong.

Previously in The Armadillo Files

Henry Apesly accidently changed history. However, what our heroes don’t seem to realize yet, is that somebody was already messing around with the timeline, else Prime’s…

You’ve reached The Armadillo Files.  Stand by for a wild and crazy ride.

When mentioning my weird imagination, more than a few people have asked me if I was doing drugs, specifically the psychedelic kind. After this chapter you might ask the same question. The answer is “No.”  Although lately I’ve been intrigued by the healthful properties and nutritional aspects of some of those fabulous fungi.  Since I’m not on medication, I sometimes look for natural things to help with my PTSD anxiety issues.  Lion’s mane mushrooms sounded promising, but I haven’t noticed any results.  However, they’re super-cool looking, and that got into this chapter.

Photographer Tim Price at Off Center & Not Even let me use some of his beautiful mushroom and fungi photos for a serial in the past, and I’m featuring them today.

Doors to Enchantment

Hallgeir Hallr, Borgund Stave Church, Wikipedia. Tomfoolery by TeaganHallgeir and Hallr, Borgund Stave Church, Wikipedia. Tomfoolery by Teagan

Welcome to my sanctuary.  Spring is on the way in the Land of Enchantment, but Winter will be on my mind for weeks to come as I finish the final two installments of “Dead of Winter.”  In response to the Thursday Doors challenge, hosted by Dan Antion, I’ve looked for doors that remind me of places in my epic fantasy series.

I created half a globe-ful of countries and cultures for Dead of Winter.  The one that is farthest north in Emlyn’s wide world is Floke Torsten. That’s the homeland of Hallgeir and his ancestors Hallr and Haldis. I derived the country’s name from the Norse Floke (guardian of the people) and Torsten (the stone of Thor).  The people of Floke Torsten look…

Dilly & Fang go western, by Teagan GenevieneDilly & Fang go back in time, image by Teagan

You’ve reached The Armadillo Files.  I’m sorry that I’ve been absent from your blogs and social media.  Similar to most of my characters I have… issues.  Lately it’s been harder than usual for me to deal with them.  Thanks to those of you who asked offline about me and about Crystal. The vet said she looks great for 15, but that her bloodwork showed early onset of kidney disease.  I will keep a close eye on her, to make sure that she continues to feel okay and have a good quality of life. It’s not something I will mention again — that’s one of my issues. Onward.

Random Reader Things

Today’s random reader things are from a marvelous reader — Ginger.  She doesn’t have a blog, but she’s great about being part of my serials.  She…

Thursday Doors to Enchantment

Thursday Doors is a blog event hosted by Dan Antion.  Since the motto of my adopted state is Land of Enchantment, and because I usually write about magical things, I call my “Doors” posts Doors to Enchantment

Characters I’ve created for books written in years past are like old friends who hang around in the windmills of my mind.  Since it’s close to Valentine’s Day, I’m featuring one from 2020.

My favorite color is green… or turquoise.  That changes without notice.  I love colors.  I need colors.  Without them I don’t even feel good. Although my steampunk heroine, Fiona Finch, has a penchant for pink that I never shared.  In honor of Fiona Finch & the Pink Valentine, I’ve rounded up some pink doors for this post.  Climb into this dark pink coach (maybe it’s faded red, but…
