#Newbooks ‘Midnight Owl’ by Viv Drewa (@vivdrewa) and ‘Second Chance Heart’ by Marie Lavender (@marielavender1)

Hi all:

As  you know, on Fridays I bring you new books, and today I have the pleasure of bringing you two new books by two writers who have visited me before and proved very popular. So, I thought I’d bring you their new books all in one go, so you can choose, or pick both. They are quite different, but there’s the beauty…

As you know, I love owls and Viv Drewa loves them too. That’s why they call her The Owl Lady

Midnight Owl by Viv Drewa
Midnight Owl by Viv Drewa

Midnight Owl (A Joe Leverette Mystery Book 1)  by Viv Drewa

When the dismembered body of a young woman is found Detectives Joe Leverette and Philip Marsden are assigned the case. After investigating the Port Huron, Michigan area where the six body parts were found there’s a twist in the case: The murderer goes after each individual who found the parts, one by one.
Leverette becomes interested in one of the women, Carole Sage, a sensitive, but because of the case he’s not able to take it any further. Everyone on the police force sees his infatuation, but Carole does not.
Each of the six witnesses has a dream about the murderer removing the particular body part they found the night. They are startled awake and hear an owl hoot three times. None of them want to reveal their dream to the detectives.
Carole sees the actual murder and each murder as it happens to the witnesses. The police chief, Billingsley, understands her ‘gift’ and sets up a sting to catch him. It fails and they have to regroup to think of something else. Two witnesses are dead and they don’t want a third to die.
This book is for 18+ due to the violence.

She can’t be more wrong…

The more time she spends with Vince Reynolds, the more she begins to believe she can trust him again. But, can she put her faith in the one man who captivates her, body and soul, or are some wounds too deep to heal?

I am a language teacher, writer, bookworm, and collaborator at Sants 3 Ràdio (a local radio station in Barcelona, where I returned in 2018), who lived in the UK for 25 years and worked for many years as a forensic psychiatrist there. I also have a Ph.D. in American Literature and an MSc in Criminology. I started publishing my stories, in English and Spanish, in 2012 and now have over twenty books available in a variety of genres, a blog (in English and Spanish), and translate books for other authors (English-Spanish and vice versa). In 2020 obtained the CELTA certificate as a language teacher, and offer Spanish and English classes. Writers and readers both in English and Spanish are my friends, colleagues, and allies, and after living in the UK for over twenty-five years, have returned home, to Barcelona, Spain, searching for inspiration for my stories. I also love owls and try to keep fit following fitness YouTube videos.

Two very different themes to explore here. The second one looks very ‘Mills and Boon’, with an updated version of their famous covers. I am sure they will both attract many readers of those genres.
Best wishes from a dark and wet Norfolk. Pete.

Here it’s dark and wet too…I hope you can still manage to take Ollie for a nice walk. I was recently talking to an American author who has published Harlequin novels for years (their equivalent to Mills and Boons. In Spain, Corín Tellado) and I don’t think I’d realised the sheer volume of books you can end up publishing with them. Mills and Boon here are diversifying. I did review one of their books some time ago, called ‘Normal’ and it was anything but… Not sure if you caught that one (a love story with a serial killer, in short).

Thanks Michelle. Both writers are well-worth following not also for their writing but because they always share the work of other writers so you never know what you might discover. Have a great week!
