As all of you who’ve been reading me for a while know well, I published my first audiobook last year (Escaping Psychiatry) and I’m hoping to get some of my other books into audio format. I published a post about ACX and thanks to that post I got chatting with other authors who’re also trying the route of the audiobook. We all noticed that there seem to be few outlets for advertising or exchanging information on audiobooks and it got me thinking. I decided to try and do regular posts on audiobooks, once a month, and see if I could build up a network of bloggers, authors and readers/listeners.
Pauline Baird-Jones is one of the authors who commented on my post and I decided to check her out. By sheer volume of audiobooks and because she and her books sound thoroughly amazing, I thought she would feature as my first guest. As she has so many of her books in audio, I’ve decided to do two posts.
First, a bit about her:
Pauline Baird Jones had a tough time with reality from the get-go. After “schooling” from four, yes FOUR brothers, she knew that some people needed love and others needed shooting. Pauline figured she could do both. Romantic suspense was the logical starting point, but there were more worlds to explore, more rules to break and minds to bend. She grabbed her pocket watch and time travel device and dove through the wormhole into the world of science fiction and even some Steampunk.
Now she wanders among the genres, trying a little of this and a lot of that, rampaging through her characters’ lives like Godzilla because she does love her peril (when it’s not happening to her). Never fear, she gives her characters happy endings. Well, the good characters. The bad ones get justice.
Pauline just released her 13th novel, Relatively Risky. She’s not superstitious about it, well, maybe a little. But the whole loving/killing thing that needs to be done? Doing it fictionally is just better for everyone. And for Pauline, who hates the thought of getting strip searched and jailed. Ahem.
This is her Amazon page, so you can check all her other books:

Now the brothers Kirby must join forces when she disappears….

Now the “lonesome mama” is having her own adventure and her own romance – if she can survive.

Men in Jeans: Richard Daniels thinks life can’t any stranger working at Area 51until he gets assigned to find out where a Houston area SF writer gets the ideas for her books. Should be an easy assignment-if it weren’t for the dead guy in her back yard and the non-business related ideas she’s giving him.
Steam Time: The man formerly known as Tobias Smith hadn’t planned to ride along with Dr. Everly and his Medicine Show. Grifters gave him a pain their elixirs couldn’t heal. But he was headed to Marfa, too. And Everly’s son turned out to be a really a fine looking damsel-one in distress when the ghost lights of Marfa bump them into an alternate reality complete with an automaton gang and airships. Could he be the good guy? Be the hero, save the day and get the girl?
